Peas Please!

The first peas of the season are finally popping up in my garden. It has been a pretty warm winter thus far but this recent cold snap kicked them into gear. I just love the sweet crisp flavor of fresh picked peas! A few fun facts:

  • peas are a cool weather crop, they cannot handle heat
  • it is a vine so plant next to something they can climb
  • the more often you pick them the more they will produce
  • peas are self pollinated, they do not rely on wind or insects
  • plant at least two crops – one in late fall & again in early spring
